Introducing Beams (Launching 2028)
A mark of finished work and good judgment that the Sunbeam team grants for life.
The world is full of credentials that can be applied for, paid for, or gamed. They say someone sat an exam or paid a fee. It is much harder to signal that a specific person's work and judgment can both be trusted.
A Beam is a mark of both. Sunbeam, the community of builders behind it, grants one when someone's finished work and character would represent it well. Once granted, a Beam holds for life, and anyone can verify it through the passport.
A Beam is earned where the work and the character both show: in First Light, in School, in how someone carries themselves in the community.
Today the Sunbeam team grants every Beam. The governance proposal would hand granting to independent stewards. A Beam is a standing invitation to the membership and a strong signal to the Accelerator.
We intend a Beam to mean something far beyond our own rooms, and that depends on keeping it scarce and honest.
